Dental Crowns − Greenville SC

Greenville SC Dentist, Wm. Chad Colson, DMD, FAGD or Jill W. Colson, DMD, FAGD, replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth. Greenville Office Phone Number  Greenville Office Phone Number 864-271-6705

Most dentistry looks like dentistry. Our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We can replace existing crowns and “fillings” with new crowns that look and feel like your natural teeth.

When damage to your teeth is extreme, we can use porcelain crowns (lithium disilicate or zirconium oxide) materials) to restore damage teeth to function. This is an extremely reliable technique for repairing the most severe of dental problems. Our crowns are tooth-colored, strong, and esthetic.  We are renowned for the quality of our work and the fantastic changes we make for people using this technology.

How long does it take to fit a dental crown?

Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, take a digital impression, then fit it with a tooth-colored temporary crown.  The impression is sent to our lab for fabrication of your crown.

On the subsequent visit in about 2 weeks, we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place and you have a new, beautiful looking tooth.

Key Benefits of Dental Crowns

  • Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth
  • Looks completely natural
  • Fixes “smile” and functional chewing problems

What are the capabilities of crowns?

Crowns are a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused through accidents, decay or wear and tear.  For our crowns, we use either a lithium disilicate material or a zirconium oxide.  Both are tooth-colored, strong, and esthetic.  Dr. Chad Colson and Dr. Jill Colson will discuss which material is better for you.

Where accidental damage has occurred, teeth have broken away through excessive wear, or as the result of old fillings breaking–crowns and/or bridges can be used as a long-term solution.

Hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth can cause a painful condition called Cracked Tooth Syndrome or CTS. CTS is diagnosed by a series of tests.  Placing crowns on these teeth typically relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. Occasionally, teeth with CTS will need root canal therapy.  In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage.

In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause “appearance” problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. Dr. Jill Colson and Dr. Chad COlson will work with you to decide which treatment is best for you.

Patient Review By Lynda P

I am writing this after having had Dr. Chad Colson crown 2 of my teeth that were side by side in my upper mouth. I had several crowns done 1 at a time over the years but never 2 at one time and never in my upper mouth. I am of the generation before best practice technology, so as a kid I suffered with a mouth full of silver filings and worse, very painful memories of the drilling experience. Going to the dentist has always been an anxious experience for me. This dental practice, all staff, go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Dr. Colson ( both ) will go into great detail to explain everything they are doing and what to expect. They are very sensitive to their patients and I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience here. I am no longer worried about pain at the dentist! In fact, this 2 crown procedure was so smooth and easy, ( the time in the office was lengthy but they prepared me for that and they were doing 2 ), at this point I don't even notice that I have these crowns. It's like my normal teeth. even better, I had a silver filling between the teeth that was not attractive and now it's not there since both teeth are crowned. I will admit, I put this off for a year or so because I was anxious. Both doctors and my awesome hygienist, Shera, monitored my situation and just encouraged me until I was ready. I'm writing to encourage anyone that you are in good hands here and don't put off good dental care anymore. If you are like me with some lingering childhood memories, this is the place that will take good care of you.

Interesting changes since the Colson's took over. Nice upgrades, and heaven knows they have personality but not at the expense of professionalism. Highly recommended group.
